If there is any truth to the rumours that Thohir wanted De Boer to stay, Ausilio wanted an Italian and the Chinese wanting someone totally different then we are in for a whole lot of trouble. If the Chinese want to splash the cash, get a care taker in for the rest of the season, and throw money at Simeone.

The transfer market from our point of view has been really boring... especially seeing what is happening across the city.

Sabatini and Ausilio are talking about working silently time and again, I get the feeling that they are setting us up for a big disappointment.

So true Frank. Bonucci to Milan sums this up. WTF!

I expect us to have a better season than last year... but the idea of being a 4th place team at best does not really motivate me.

Well, you were right Lomba. We finished 4th and the celebrations felt like we had won the Scudetto. I am really delighted that we are back in CL but also a little disappointed that we have come to this - celebrating that we made CL.

Indeed. Fuckin Napoli fans with 1/5th of our budget were totally disappointed with getting 2nd place. And yet we celebrate the 4th. I mean I do understand that the way we got into 4th place was practically unthinkable a few weeks ago and even the way the match against Lazio evolved... was quite incredible. But this new reality in which we find ourselves is nothing short from disappointing.

It's taking longer than expected to get back to where we want to be, but there is progress.
Could be worse, look at the red and black half...

New season, same old problems with different players. So, we are looking at CL or no CL for next season? What do you guys think?

I think Inter should manage to get a CL spot for next season... but it's more to do with the low quality of Serie A rather than good quality from Inter.

We have had a very good transfer session overall, but midfield department remained too weak IMO.

Agreed on the midfield department. Valero is the only top midfielder we have in terms of technical ability, unfortunately he is on the wrong side of 30. Brozovic is very inconsistent still.

Spalletti has always relied on regista type midfielders in Pizarro and Paredes to kick start a move so I am really surprised that he did not ask for such a midfielder. Granted top shelf players in that role are few and far between and our pursuit of Modric ended with nothing. I thought if not Modric we would get someone else.

This is going to be our biggest drawback this season and we will struggle to break down teams who park the bus.

Yeah that is correct. We miss a midfielder who is not afraid to take the ball out from our defensive line and actually try to build something rather than pass it to the nearest guy. Funnily enough, I thought this player was our main priority rather than a 'maybe we can find one for cheap and if not fuck it'. Rafinha made this midfield look decent last year because he was capable of doing that and more.

We will once again have to rely on balls coming from our wide wingers to Icardi. As you said, once they park the bus it's game over.

The second half yesterday was just incredible. The sudden collapse in our mentality. Its surprising how none of the coaches can solve this, and we have had a lot of them. Again, goes back to a lack of leader in midfield.

So, how much time does Spalletti have to save his job or has he enough money in the bank to see this season out? Conte is without a job...

You pretty much said what I've been thinking.
Lack of leaders, poor mentality & Conte's shadow looming over Spalletti… I don't think the Chinese owners have an Italian mentality of sacking managers mid-season, but pressure will keep rising if things don't turn around swiftly.

There is no way Spaletti will get the sack. It's way too early in the season for this. Plus he has been recently extended till 2021.
Give him time, in Spaletti we trust :)
